ORANGE COUNTY IMC BREAKFAST MEETING - October 13, 2006

How to Create the Life & Consulting Practice You Want:
Knowing What You Want, Making Direct Requests, Saying No

With Joey Tamer, President, S.O.S., Inc.

Joey Tamer has been a successful consultant for 30 years now. She's never held a job.

Your consulting practice may have been an obvious choice for you or a challenging change. But you have opted for this work life, and every day, every year, you have the chance to make it better, and to create the practice and the life you want to craft from being an independent.

On October 13, we will discuss some of the consulting disciplines that no one talks about out loud -- about personal power, about courage, about clarity and enforcement in our policies, about walking away from certain opportunities. We will share stories of the good, the bad, the ugly and the glorious.

These disciplines include:

  • Remembering the hidden secrets of success as a consultant.
  • Recognizing and avoiding the hidden killers of consulting companies.
  • Managing your money to create the freedom to act.
  • Learning and knowing what you want, so you can get it even as your needs change over time.
  • Making a direct request and getting what you want.
  • Learning to know what you don’t want, then when and how to say no, and how to enforce it.
  • Building these disciplines into your pricing and payment policies, your contracts, your ethics, and your client communications, so that they become self-enforcing.
  • Avoiding the dread that we all feel sometimes
  • Getting continuously better at these strategies and tactics that create the life and the consulting practice you want.

Don't miss this all important breakfast meeting on October 13, which may be life changing as well as a great networking experience with your fellow consultants in the greater Orange County area. Expect a lively discussion.

Joey Tamer's earlier IMC presentation at LAX received highest ratings.
