ORANGE COUNTY IMC BREAKFAST MEETING - January 12, 2007

How to Listen to Gain a Competitive Edge in Selling Consulting Services
With Bill Mooney, President, Center for Consulting & Professional Practices

Listening is critical in selling consulting services, since the consultant must first understand the client's needs, both stated and unstated. For consultants, a good way to achieve a competitive advantage is to have a better understanding of the client's real needs than the competition.

Don't miss our IMC Orange County Breakfast Meeting on January 12, when Bill Mooney, Consultant to Consultants, will share specific tactics and strategies that will make consultants better listeners and more effective in selling their services. These will include:

  • Expanding listening to include all five senses, not just one.
  • Asking the right questions to understand the client's real needs.
  • Asking questions that will create a vision of success in the client’s mind.
  • Asking questions that will stimulate improvement of the consultant’s service, products or solutions.
  • Asking questions that will identify new consulting opportunities.
  • Engaging clients as consultants for business improvement and development.
  • Developing a structured program of information gathering, analysis and action, and building this program into the daily operation of the consulting business.

Participants will be asked to contribute their own experiences in gaining a competitive edge by listening to clients and using questions to uncover valuable information about consulting opportunities.

This first IMC OC breakfast meeting of 2007 will be informative and interactive, as well as a great networking experience with your fellow consultants in the greater Orange County area. A bibliography will be provided to all on the topics of listening and asking questions
