ORANGE COUNTY IMC BREAKFAST MEETING - October 11, 2007

How to Grow Your Consulting Practice
by Serving Startup Companies!

With Ken Nicolas, Managing Director, Investment Banker, Teacher

Startups and early-stage companies can represent a substantial growth opportunity for consults. They have innumerable needs which can be met by consultants and outside service providers -- but not necessarily the money to pay for these services.

At our IMC Orange County breakfast meeting on October 11, learn from Ken Nicolas, Investment Banker, how to identify startup companies that represent viable consulting opportunities and how to structure deals that make financial sense for consultants. For example, an excellent prospect for new consulting business, and one which allows you to get in on the ground floor, may be an early-stage technology company that is almost ready for the next step in funding, but needs your talent to complete their management team, business plan, marketing plan, etc. You will learn:

  • The hidden benefits of working with early-stage companies.
  • Different levels of startup companies.
  • How to identify startup companies that represent viable consulting opportunities.
  • How to structure deals when the client company is under-funded.
  • Classical funding sources for startup companies.
  • How to assist client companies with their funding needs.
  • How to participate in the venture capital community.
  • How to become recognized as a specialist who is sought after by startups, early-stage companies, and funding sources.
  • And a lot more.

Expect lively discussion on October 11, as participant share their experiences with startup companies. This will be a great opportunity for you to network with the Greater Orange County consulting community and to gain specific knowledge to build your consulting practice.
