Keynote : Principles of Persuasion: The Science of Influencing People

The success of consultants, leaders, executives, and managers is measured by their ability to persuade and inspire others to work together toward a common purpose. How successful you are depends, to a large extent, on your ability to influence others.

In other words, influence examines the process that causes humans to change. Be a change agent!

Take the influence test and see how you score: http://www.influenceatwork.com/nq_test.html

When influence is employed correctly, it efficiently moves people in positive directions. Those who wish to create and sustain positive change in others need to understand how the influence process works. Fortunately, a vast body of scientific evidence now exists on how, when, and why people say 'yes.'

Myer Sankary will present Principles of Persuasion: The Science of Influencing People" to IMC SoCal. At this  keynote , participants will learn about the six principles of persuasion that will allow them to ethically influence others. These six principles of persuasion are based on work by behavioral science researchers and professors at top universities -- the people who actually discover the newest principles of influence, not by those who merely repackage the information years later. The material is based on the highly popular book, Influence: Science and Practice, by Dr. Robert Cialdini.

Afternoon Workshop - A Consulting Case Study:

How to Form an Alliance of Consultants

When it comes to consulting, 90% of our business opportunities are generated through referrals from colleagues, clients or other contacts. It is also a fact that consulting teams, not individuals, are the big winners. Yet most of us continue to approach our consulting business development thinking and acting as soloists. We do so even though we operate within a very competitive arena that offers the services of large, well-known consulting firms, and there is overwhelming evidence that organizing, promoting and delivering any professional service (including management consulting services) is best done as a team sport!

At our June 19 afternoon session, get first-hand knowledge of the process of forming an alliance of consultants. This will be done in the form of a case study of a real, ongoing situation of a group of consultants who are in process of forming an alliance, which will be called “Product Associates” for the purpose of the case. The founding members believe they have identified a major market need; however, they still have many unanswered questions and need your consulting help.

  • How open or closed should the group be to new members?
  • Can the group be informal and work on specific projects on a case-by-case basis, or does it need a formal legal structure with defined ownership?
  • How to split revenues and costs with outside associates, who are brought in on projects as needed.
  • How to brand and launch the group in the marketplace.
  • How to cover overhead expenses, such as marketing and promotion,
  • How to minimize legal exposure from the actions of principals or associates.
  • How to build brand equity.
  • And a lot more…

There will not be a presenter. Instead, this will be a fully interactive workshop with the business case handed out at the start of the meeting. The discussion will be at round tables, which will then report back to the group as a whole. Expect lots of discussion and a great learning experience.

If you want to grow you practice through alliances with other consultants, this is a session not to miss
