IMC SoCal Monthly Meeting - November 16, 2004

The Economic Climate for Southern California Consulting
With Jack Kyser, SVP & Chief Economist of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp.

The business base in Southern California is small-to-medium sized firms (2 to 250 employees). They are concerned about cost containment, and operating more efficiently. In addition, many are facing competition from off-shore firms. There will be modest improvement in California’s business environment over the next 12 months, so it will continue to be a struggle to survive for many.

The key challenge for management consultants will be to find potential clients and to communicate that there would be a value to the services. The good news is that the local business base is large and many sectors have favorable growth prospects.
