“The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike at him as hard as you can and as often as you can, and keep moving on.”

-Ulysses S. Grant 1822-85 on the art of war (or, for that matter business, eh?)

PAST PRESIDENT’S PANEL / PRESIDENT PROFILE

IMC SoCal will be actively supporting the Past President’s Panel during the coming year. Our first meeting is scheduled for September 17 at the Renaissance with the President’s Panel including Pat Rea and Dave Silberg. For some reason, neither remembers his date in office. Here is a quick profile of each of these former Presidents.

Pat Rea - Snapshot

Pat founded the Rea Company in 1974. A graduate of Cal Poly with a BA in Business, Pat specializes in all aspects of Human Resources (labor relations, grievance and arbitration hearings, mgmt. training and discrimination are among his specialties)

Pat successfully negotiated over 300 collective bargaining agreements with all the major unions and has represented clients in front of the Division of Fair Labor Standards Enforcement up to and including National Labor Relations Board. And Pat has been a featured speaker on radio talk shows concerning employment issues

David Silberg - Snapshot

Dave is a partner with Tatum CIO Partners, LLP, which is a national organization of Chief Information Officers who provide Technology Services to clients. Dave’s specialty is in the assessment of IT related risks. Before Tatum, Dave founded Sitka Systems, a mid sized consulting firm providing a variety of systems services to clients. Before Sitka, he helped found Doud Hausner and Associates which focused on family owned businesses. This all took place following stints with Booz Allen and Hamilton and Touche Ross & Co.

Dave has been a CMC for over 25 years, serving as President and Treasurer in the 1980’s. Notable achievements during his tenure were a “Consulting Factoid” presented at each meeting, a Saturday consulting expo, and, I think, tongue in cheek, arranged for a Survey of Domestic Bliss showing that despite difficult work and long hours, consultants were no more prone to divorce than the general public.

Advice to today’s consultants: “The institute is a worthy endeavor. Adding to one’s chosen profession is the mark of a true professional. Finding a way to “give back” one’s learning is important.”
